Long-Working-Distance CIS Line Scan Camera : Innovating Machine Vision
In recent years, automation has been progressing in visual inspections, with an increasing trend toward switching to machine vision. Currently, area cameras and line cameras are commonly used for automated inspection systems, but by using our CIS line scan cameras, it is possible to overcome various challenges that arise with general camera systems.
Evolving from visual inspection to machine vision
Ensuring product quality is crucial. While visual inspection is simple and easy to implement, it comes with various challenges such as accuracy fluctuations, personnel availability, and human error. To address these issues, the adoption of machine inspection systems and the consideration of automating the inspection process have been increasing in recent years. Automation improves inspection stability and efficiency, and it is expected to lead to long-term cost reduction and productivity gains. However, camera-based inspection systems can be difficult to implement in environments with strict space constraints. Additionally, for wider inspection objects, multiple cameras, light sources, and lenses are required, which can lead to complications in installation, adjustment, and maintenance. Our latest CIS line scan camera product solves these challenges.
CIS line camera with about 50mm working distance
CIS line scan camera features a compact ‘All-in-One’ design, integrating the sensor, light source, and lens. With 1:1 imaging, it allows for image capture at actual size, with no distortion. Additionally, the scanning width can reach up to 6000mm, enabling inspection of wide objects with just a single unit. In addition to these benefits, we have developed the latest series with a working distance of approximately 50mm. In conventional CIS line scan cameras with short working distances,
・ Objects with height around the inspection area, such as the bottom of containers, cannot be inspected.
・ The installation angle of external light sources is limited, making it difficult to detect certain defects.
Our new series overcomes these challenges. It can effectively handle objects with height around the inspection area, enabling the inspection of a wide range of products. Additionally, by increasing the working distance, we have created more space for installing external light sources, offering greater freedom in installation angles. This allows for optimal lighting on the inspection surface, making it possible to detect scratches and defects that were previously undetectable.
